Prompt for coping with feelings
Sometimes people feel more than one feeling at the same time. Human beings are emotionally complicated, marvelous creatures. This Journal writing / drawing prompt is a safe, effective way for us to examine our feelings without the pressure of expectations on ourselves or of those demanded from the world around us.
Struggling with anxiety or anger, experiencing fatigue or a "block" of some kind? Take ten minutes (to an hour, who am I to limit your fun?) to blast an upbeat playlist and get on your feet. Turn up the music, perhaps choose songs that reflect your current emotions or songs which reflect how you want to feel. Dance while nobody watches. Bust that move you see everybody doing and always wanted to try. Get your heart pumping and your feet jumping. Ten minutes of this can elevate your mood, flood your brain with oxygen and enable you to approach the rest of your day invigorated and ready for anything.
A simple strategy to intervene when you see someone you care for is hurting:
Be brave, you can make a big impact with these simple strategies.
The boundary guide can be used for self-reflection and self-protection. Evaluate the relationships of those in "orbit" around you in all walks of your life. Create healthy boundaries based on your self-guided responses to the proposed rings on this assessment tool. Individuals of concern can move in closer to you as you trust, or be pushed to a more far out ring if you determine that's where they need to be for your won well-being. I have used this tool with many "neuro-divergent" clients who enjoy this, including those with ADD/ADHD, OCD, and ASD. This is especially helpful for people entering into new social or work environments in learning who to trust.
This is a reframing exercise intended to help develop growth in personal matters. It is intended to aid someone to process their thoughts/feelings in order to make progress and "feel better" in their daily lives.
Re-Framing Exercise - .pdf format
An important part of feeling better comes from the ability to re-frame (or think/feel differently) about our own personal matters that include: thoughts, feelings, goals, talents and skills, experiences, and relationships. This is not something that happens all at once or overnight.
This is a processing exercise which can help anyone who is struggling with feeling that they cannot make progress. It is intended to develop insight and growth in personal matters in a non-threatening format.
